2 Tips to help you slay
For this week’s quest, I’ve chosen a long-sleeved chambray button-up shirt. Most chambray tops are pretty casual, so this was a fun item to try pairing in different ways to create something more formal.
— While it doesn’t have to be a chambray top think of an item that you tend to wear more casually, even a t-shirt for example, and find creative ways to level up your look by putting a more formal outfit together and integrating that specific piece into it.
Our style suggestions
- Think about the materials and textures of the items you’re pairing together, and how that can help make an outfit feel more formal. For example, a satin dress or skirt feels more formal than a jersey knit, so pairing a casual t-shirt with one of those materials can bring it to a different tier.
- Play around with how you wear the item. For example, instead of wearing my button-down as is, I buttoned it at the top, but then tucked the rest of the shirt into itself and belted it behind me like a high-low top to create a more avant-garde style.
