Break up your basics with badass florals

Hey, Style Slayers — Happy Moda Monday!

Welcome Inside the Closet! In this edition, we’re sharing 1 quest, 2 tips, and 3 looks to help you embrace your unique style superpowers — Let’s step in! 👇

1 Quest for you to try

This week, we’re exploring a Spring basic with a not-so-basic approach! That’s right, I mean that staple spring print for folks everywhere, florals! Yes, I know, florals for spring – groundbreaking, but this week, we’re not talking about your dainty pastels and cottagecore flair (we’ll save that for a future edition!). Pastel? Never heard of her. Because today, we’re embracing “florals with an edge”—think rebellious roses, moody botanicals, and patterns that pack a punch. Whether you live for punk, goth, or dark academia, let’s lean into wielding the power of florals like a true badass.

How to participate

  1. Choose: Pick a floral piece that speaks to you—whether it’s a dress, blazer, boots, or accessories, there’s a floral for everyone!
  2. Create: Style it in a way that defies expectations and leans into your personal aesthetic. Love dark and dramatic? Use burgundy or black roses in your look. Like colorful but alternative? Get a print that pops in contrast to the rest of your look!
  3. Capture: Share your outfit with #VostraModaQuest, or reply to this email with your entry.

2 Tips to help you slay

For this week’s quest, I decided to update some of the floral options in my wardrobe. You may remember the last floral theme quest I did and my own challenge when it came to what florals I owned. This theme is more in line with the types of prints I like, so I was inspired to invest in some floral printed tops and pair them with some edgy pieces in my own wardrobe for a more on-brand look!

Your look could be as simple as adding a metal floral accessory for that touch of edginess while still feeling elegant. Or you can lean fully into mixing textures, such as a pair of leather pants with metal detailing and jewelry that contrasts against a flowy floral print blouse or button-down. Florals aren’t just soft and sweet—they can be bold, powerful, and rebellious, just like you.

Our style suggestions

  1. Flip the floral script by using unexpected combinations, such as a structured and fitted blazer with a floral print on it or pairing flowy floral pieces with contrasting items like sturdy leather belts or corsets.
  2. Make it personal by choosing unique pieces that emphasize your self-expression – items like pins, patches, or accessories can be a great option for ornamenting your outfit with just a touch of floral flair.
