Quick Update: It’s been a busy summer for us behind the scenes at Vostra Moda! We’ve been collaborating on some fun projects, working with great clients, and have a few personal updates in process, so to make sure you continue to receive quality content, we’ll be adjusting our newsletter schedule to once a month for the time being.

1 Quest for you to try
One of the biggest misconceptions about professional style is that you have to give up your personality to look “professional.” The truth? Your clothes don’t GET you the job—your knowledge, skills, and preparation do. But what you wear CAN help remove distractions so others can see those skill sets while also giving you the confidence to show up as your best self. This week’s style quest challenges you to create a “professional signature style” for that upcoming work event, client meeting, or interview!
How to participate
- Choose: Pick one professional opportunity coming up—even if it’s just a networking event, career fair, class presentation, or meeting with a client. If you don’t have one scheduled, pretend you have an interview at your dream company.
- Create: Put together an outfit, then make sure it passes the “confidence checklist”:
-Does everything fit comfortably?
-Is it wrinkle-free?
-Are your shoes clean?
-Can you sit, walk, and move confidently?
-Does the outfit still feel like you?

2 Tips to help you slay
While this can apply when discovering your personalized professional style at any workplace, I especially reccomend trying the “One Level Up” Rule if you’re going for an interview. If the employees dress casually, aim for business casual. If they wear business casual, step up to business professional. It’s much easier to take off a blazer than wish you’d brought one!
— Keep in mind, even for a casual workplace, that doesn’t mean dressing “sloppy”. You can still create an outfit that feels put-together while remaining comfy and relaxed!
Our style suggestions
- Small capsule VS huge wardrobe: You don’t need an entirely new wardrobe to look polished. Start with versatile basics like a blazer, two pairs of slacks, a few neutral tops, dark jeans, and one comfortable pair of professional shoes. Thrift stores, consignment shops, clothing swaps, and outlet stores can help you build an amazing wardrobe without draining your bank account!
- Craft a professional signature style: Professional doesn’t have to mean boring. Add your signature through color, jewelry, fun socks, glasses, shoes, makeup, hairstyles, patterns, or silhouette. The goal is for employers to remember you, but because they’re questioning whether your outfit fits the occasion.

The Mr.
Mr business casual: dark wash jeans balanced with a cream knit polo, brown blazer, and patterned navy blue and brown boots make for an elevated but still comfortable business casual look.
The Mx.
Mx casual: a more relaxed fit with a navy blue tee and terracotta brown joggers is accented by “world” gauge earrings, a pair of navy blue sneakers, a brown leather bracelet, and a pinstripe white bomber jacket for a fashion-forward, comfy look, fit for casual workplaces.
The Ms.
Ms business professional: This blue pinstripe jumpsuit with a removable bow tie that can also be used as a belt is a versatile base layer! We’ve elevated this outfit by adding a double-breasted white blazer with gold buttons, white patent leather slingback heels, gold drop earrings, a gold open band ring, and a gold floral lapel pin for a touch of personality mixed with professionalism!
