Dispel winter woes with stellar style

Hey, Style Slayers — Happy Moda Monday!

Welcome Inside the Closet! In this edition, we’re sharing 1 quest, 2 tips, and 3 looks to help you embrace your unique style superpowers — Let’s step in! 👇

1 Quest for you to try

Winter weather may be dreary, (especially when Spring is literally around the corner) but your wardrobe doesn’t have to be! This week, we’re getting starry-eyed about our style! Think celestial patterns, metallic textures, cosmic colors, and the occasional Sci-Fi reference, to brighten up these last few weeks of winter! Are you ready to Dispel Winter Woes With Stellar Style inspiration? To infinity, and beyond! …or at least, to the closet!

How to participate

  1. Choose: Select a celestial-inspired piece, a galaxy worthy item, or a metallic element to build your outfit around.
  2. Create: Style your look with complementary colors and textures to enhance the cosmic theme. For example, mix metallics with blacks, blues, or even purples reminiscent of the night sky
  3. Capture: Share your stellar outfit with #VostraModaQuest, or reply to this email with your entry.

The most inspiring outfit will be featured next week! Please let me know if you would like to remain anonymous.

2 Tips to help you slay

For this week’s quest, I’ve chosen to embrace the contrast of the stars against the night sky with this sparkling blue velvet jumpsuit I rented for an upcoming event from Rent the Runway. Paired with some gold star earrings (yes, those are Christmas ornaments that I turned into earrings), and dazzling gold heels, the metallic shine is a great compliment to both the texture and color of this outfit!

But you don’t have to dazzle like a disco ball to embrace this starry style quest! Your look could be as simple as a graphic-tee with a planetary print on it, or go for a classic and easy option like a NASA shirt or hat as your feature item, and build your outfit around that! Or you can even embrace a galaxy far, far away with your favorite Sci-fi fandom’s shirt or hoodie (Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Firefly, etc…).

Our style suggestions

  1. Celestial Accents: Look for earrings, necklaces, or rings featuring stars, crescent moons, or planetary motifs for a touch of intergalactic charm.
  2. Look To The Sky: Trying to decide which colors to choose? Nature has all the inspiration you could need! The aurora borealis, for example, ranges from shades of greens and blue to purples and pinks. You can choose any or all of these colors and add a touch of sparkle with accessories to mirror the Northern Lights!

“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don’t just give up.” — Stephen Hawking, English theoretical physicist and author
