Hey, Style Slayers — Happy Moda Monday!
Welcome Inside the Closet! In this edition, we’re sharing 1 quest, 2 tips, and 3 looks to help you embrace your unique style superpowers — Let’s step in! 👇
1 Quest for you to try
I’m thrilled to be attending a Fall wedding for a close friend, and to top it off, the dress code has my inner vamp smiling a mysterious smirk (also known as I’m jumping for joy inside), and my fashion inspiration has kicked into excited overdrive!
This month, I’m feeling inspired in part by this wedding dress code giving dark romantic vibes; there is also some overlap with day-to-day autumnal styling and the Halloween season as well. It also makes for a choose-your-own-style-adventure, which is perfect for all the different October activities you may have coming up! Our style quest inspo for this edition: “Dressing for a Dark Autumn Romance”!
How to participate
- Choose: Imagine you’ve been invited on a mysterious and romanticised autumn adventure. Where are you going? A haunted manor? A moonlit masquerade? A mystical library? A rainy-day cafe meet-up? Choose your destination and decide on your autumnally romanticised outfit theme.
- Create: Build your outfit using three elements from your imagined setting — perhaps a rich autumn color, a dramatic silhouette, and a texture or accessory that fits the atmosphere of your destination.
- Capture: Share your outfit with #VostraModaQuest, or email us at hellobri@vostramoda.com with your entry.
The most inspiring outfit will be featured next week! Please let me know if you would like to remain anonymous.
2 Tips to help you slay
For this newsletter, I’ve chosen to share some Autumnal wedding guest outfit inspo! There are so many things I love about fall fashion, but a dark romantic wedding theme scheduled for prime Autumn season in New England is too good not to share in October!
— The hardest part for me was deciding between a classic gown (because how often do you get to wear formal wear?), leaning into a modern option like a suit set, or embracing a mix of elegant but with a touch of edgy! Which style inspo do you think I went with?
Our style suggestions
- Autumnal Color Palettes: For a dark romantic theme, look at darker or more muted shades, such as black, navy, charcoal, and burgundy. For my Halloween-loving baddies, these colors are likely already up your alley, but if you’re looking to expand on the color range with your fall layers, a few great color pairings that you could add as accents can include creams, tans, burnt oranges, olive greens, and chocolate browns.
- Stunning Silhouettes: Whether you’re attending a themed party or treating yourself to a chai latte and bookstore date, you can “slay” all day if you feel good about the fit of your outfit! For a dark romantic theme, I love dramatic silhouettes. Think flowing sleeves and skirts paired with a fitted bodice or structured jackets paired with textured trousers. Play around with the fit by mixing and matching materials or adding layers that can help create unique shapes, such as belts, corsets, or harnesses, to make any outfit a main character vibe.
Bri shows some outfit inspo for a dark romantic autumnal wedding. Outfit ideas include a classic but edgy black cocktail dress with long sleeves, a high neck, and an open back; a formal off-the-shoulder black satin gown; a modern burgundy velvet cocktail dress with thin straps and lacing; and a black suit set with a fitted blazer, buttoned collar, and bold statement jewelry. Which look would you wear to a wedding?
