Home for the Holidays

Hey, Style Slayers — Happy Moda Monday!

Welcome Inside the Closet! In this edition, we’re sharing 1 quest, 2 tips, and 3 looks to help you embrace your unique style superpowers — Let’s step in! 👇

1 Quest for you to try

Over the next couple of weeks, whether you’re road-tripping to see family, hopping on a plane, or simply bouncing between friends’ houses and casual gatherings, it can feel like the holidays pull us out of our usual space (and sometimes our usual style groove). This is your guide to staying comfortable and feeling like yourself — warm, confident, and stylish, no matter where “home” is this holiday season!

How to participate

  1. Choose: Pick 2–3 pieces that make you feel your most comfortable, cozy, and confident — your “holiday-home armor.” These should be items you can throw on anywhere and feel grounded.
  2. Create: Build a full “Home-for-the-Holidays” outfit using those chosen pieces plus layers that support travel, warmth, and ease. Bonus points if the look transitions from car/plane to couch to casual gathering without needing a full change!
  3. Capture: Share your outfit with #VostraModaQuest, or reply to this email with your entry.

2 Tips to help you slay

For this week’s quest, I’ve chosen to share a cozy but cute outfit that’s perfect for relaxing in front of the Christmas Tree. A knit cream sweater with the sleeves cuffed, paired with black and tan patterned harem pants, and a simple black headband. I chose to wear red lipstick and painted my nails red for a pop of color, so completing this look with a red shoe would be a great addition to the outfit!

Your look could be as simple as prioritizing pieces with “Home But Polished” energy! Look for items that feel like pajamas but read like real outfits, such as oversized sweaters with structure, knit trousers, matching lounge sets, jumpsuits with stretch, or blanket scarves that double as a wrap. All of these items say: “I’m comfy, I’m warm, and yes, I still look put-together enough for family photos that my sister will undoubtedly post online 5 minutes after taking.”

Our style suggestions

  1. Build a Travel-Ready Base Outfit: Choose soft, stretchy fabrics like ponte, modal, bamboo knits, or fleece-lined leggings. These pieces keep you warm, breathe well, and survive long car rides or flights without getting saggy or rumpled. Bonus tip: neutrals or your personal palette make mixing and matching on the go easy!
  2. Layer for Temperature Chaos: Families love to crank up the heat indoors (if mom’s cold, you’re cold, right?!) and airports love to freeze you out. Solve both issues by trying a lightweight thermal + cardigan + scarf combo, or a turtleneck + shacket over straight cut or wide-leg pants. Layers keep your comfort flexible and help you adapt without sacrificing the vibe you want to show up with!

“Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread. Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, we’ll wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed!” – J.R.R. Tolkein, The Lord of the Rings
