Master your wardrobe refresh: Shop small, style big

Hey, Style Slayers — Happy Moda Monday!

Welcome Inside the Closet! In this edition, we’re sharing 1 quest, 2 tips, and 3 looks to help you embrace your unique style superpowers — Let’s step in! 👇

1 Quest for you to try

This week, whether you’re joining us at our Holly Jolly Stylin event, recovering from that family get-together with some online browsing, or heading out to start your holiday shopping, we’ve got you covered with style tips and shopping strategies to help you style yourself like a pro from anywhere! This week’s Style Challenge is to “Master Your Own Wardrobe Refresh” by putting together one festive holiday look and one cozy winter ensemble using what you already own – then assess what you’d like to add to your closet for the season. Bonus points if you discover a new way to wear an old piece! This exercise will not only help you identify your gaps but also help you resist the urge to buy “just because.”

Whether you’re local to NH and supporting a small business like M&C Clothing and Gifts, browsing online, or shopping your closet, you’ll be prepared to elevate your holiday style with intention if you follow our style tips!

How to participate

  1. Choose: Audit your closet to see what winter items you already own and put together a holiday look and cozy look (or you can create one cozy, holiday look!)
  2. Create: Combine your pieces for some festive fashion, then assess what winter items should be added to your closet this season for more versatility!
  3. Capture: Share your outfit with #VostraModaQuest, or reply to this email with your entry.

2 Tips to help you slay

Whether you’re scouring the racks at your favorite boutique or planning to shop your closet, here’s everything you need to create holiday-ready outfits and shop with intention.

My first recommendation is to focus on versatile Holiday staples, pieces that can transition from day to night and mix across your wardrobe through the rest of the winter season! When shopping, look for “hero” pieces with a little extra flair that will work for multiple holiday looks. Think jewel-toned cardigans, shimmery tops, or cozy-yet-chic velvet pants. Ask yourself if you can dress it up with jewelry, heels, or some cool oxfords, and dress it down with jeans or boots. These multipurpose items will give you more styling mileage and fewer wardrobe regrets.

Shop with intent and quickly audit your current pieces before heading out to the store, or settling onto the couch with your computer to see where you need something new or a refreshed essential you’d like to replace. I always recommend making a shopping list before you start so you don’t get too distracted by all the shiny things in the store (especially this time of year! oooh sparkle…)!

Our style suggestions

  1. When shopping look for “hero pieces”, those staple items that can be taken from day to night with ease, layered up or down, but also have a little flair so they look great as a standalone item too! Think jewel-tone pieces button downs or sweaters with metallic accents.
  2. Do a quick inventory of your current winter essentials—coats, sweaters, layering basics, and accessories – BEFORE you head out! Look for “holes” in your wardrobe like an extra-warm jacket, a neutral sweater, or a statement accessory to complement your existing items. Write a list so you shop with a purpose instead of impulse buys (yes, even if it’s a great sale)!
