Hey, Style Slayers — Happy Moda Monday!
Welcome Inside the Closet! In this edition, we’re sharing 1 quest, 2 tips, and 3 looks to help you embrace your unique style superpowers — Let’s step in! 👇
1 Quest for you to try
Whether you’re braving the coasters, splashing through water rides, or chasing Disney, Universal, or your movie magic in style, theme parks are the ultimate summer adventure. But between the heat, walking miles, and wanting to still look good in at least some of those family photos… what’s a fashion-forward nerd to do?
This week, we’re diving into park-perfect outfits for amusement parks, water parks, and Disneybounding dreams come true. You deserve to feel as good as you look while making memories that last longer than the souvenir churro wrapper in your backpack (speaking of which, you should probably clean your bag out before you head home…).
How to participate
- Choose: …a fandom, character, or ride that you love. Bonus if it sparks joy or childhood memories.
- Create: …an outfit inspired by it using only what’s already in your closet—or with minimal thrifting. Prioritize comfort + themed flair. Think “Jurassic Park tourist” or “Pokémon trainer on vacation.”
- Capture: Share your theme park-worthy outfit with #VostraModaQuest, or reply to this email with your entry.
The most inspiring outfit will be featured next week! Please let me know if you would like to remain anonymous.
2 Tips to help you slay
For this week’s quest, I’ve chosen to talk about what inspired this entire idea – my favorite theme park game, Roller Coaster Tycoon! I recently rediscovered and started playing this again on Steam, and as someone who personally doesn’t visit theme parks often, I have been truly enjoying the experience from the comfort of my home!
— Regardless of the style or theme you choose for this week’s quest, I highly recommend some clever layering options that can take you from the sunniest part of the day through the cool evening while staying comfy the whole time. If you can, look for items that breathe like moisture-wicking fabrics, linen blends, or techwear-inspired materials. Cotton may seem comfy, and it does breathe, but it will also hold sweat all day, along with the gallons of water it absorbed after going on the log flume ride…
Our style suggestions
- Focus on feet first: While many of us may think about our shoes as the last part of our outfit, when it comes to theme parks, expect to be walking a few miles over the day! Try “fashion-sneakers” if you need some additional support, or stylish water-resistant sandals for those water park adventures. And don’t be afraid to bring some themed socks if you’re prone to blisters – yes, even in summer!
- Disneybounding abounds: If you love any opportunity to cosplay or dress as a favorite character, why not embrace the idea of Disneybounding? It’s about capturing the essence of a character through everyday clothing items like shirts, pants, skirts, dresses, and accessories, rather than formal costumes, and allows you to get creative while staying comfortable! Think blue denim shorts, an orange t-shirt, and a light green hat for a modern “Goofy” inspired outfit from what you may already own!
Bri’s last trip to an amusement park, 12+ years ago – best part was standing NEXT to the water rides to cool down without having to wait in line to get on the ride!
