Preparing for (fools) spring

Hey, Style Slayers β€” Happy Moda Monday!

Welcome Inside the Closet! In this edition, we’re sharing 1 quest, 2 tips, and 3 looks to help you embrace your unique style superpowers β€” Let’s step in! πŸ‘‡

1 Quest for you to try

The first day of Spring is only days away! And while I’m thrilled at the prospect of warmer weather and sunshine, as a lifelong New Englander, I have to remind myself that “Fake Spring” is also a thing! Yes, it may technically be Springtime soon, but the weather doesn’t always reflect that, especially in New England! Within the same week, you can easily see weather that looks like 70 degrees and sunny, to 40s with cold rain, or even jumping straight back to 2 degrees with snow showers and ice. This week, I encourage you to prepare for Spring, but don’t put those warmer layers or snow boots away just yet!

How to participate

  1. Choose: Select 1-2 lighter layers or accent pieces that remind you of the warmth of spring. Bonus points if you choose something with a color or print that you feel drawn to in a warmer season!
  2. Create: Combine your lighter layers with at least 1 warm winter weather item to create an outfit that feels and looks great while still functioning for Spring weather (or fools spring if it’s especially chilly).
  3. Capture: Share your outfit with #VostraModaQuest, or reply to this email with your entry.

The most inspiring outfit will be featured next week! Please let me know if you would like to remain anonymous.

2 Tips to help you slay

This time of year is a great time to start adding more colors and prints to your wardrobe if you haven’t already. Think easily layerable sweaters or lighter scarves that you can wear whether it’s freezing temps or sunny and warm!

β€” It’s also important to keep layering techniques in mind so you can stay cool when the sun comes out, and feel warm the other 75% of the time that it’s around 40 degrees (with a chance of snow at any moment)! Keep some lighter options like cotton or linen shirts or tanks that you can layer beneath warm sweaters and knits, then remove the outer layers as needed, in your rotation, for a wardrobe that keeps up with the weather!

Our style suggestions

  1. Color me inspired: While we tend to associate spring with pastel colors, that doesn’t mean you have to stick to just pastels for your own color options! If you love bold color choices or more muted but rich colors, layer them with some of your winterwear, or mix and match them with some pastels if you’re curious, and start playing with color palettes! As the season changes, so can you – have fun!
  2. Prepping for all the weather at once: Because you might be expecting snow, rain, and sun all in the same week, it can be challenging to know how to dress for it. Keep some warmer pieces on hand, and make sure to add in items like waterproof shoes, waxed and rainproof outerwear, and even some cool umbrella options to keep you comfy on those in-between days while still helping you stay stylish!
Bri embraces a moment of warm weather during fools spring by finding some beautiful painted flowers to pose by while awaiting nature's flowers bloom! A black quilted jacket and black dress pants paired with an emerald green blouse for contrast make for a simple but elegant outfit base. Pairing this with a printed green or yellow scarf for example would be great for adding warmth and more color or pattern to the look as well!

The Mr.

Our Mr. Flatlay, inspired by "fools spring" weather, focuses on a black, gray, and red color palette while also bringing prints into play with pinstripe black pants, a geometric patterned sweater, and a colorblock red blazer. An all-black umbrella creates an edgy but polished contrast against the red boots and other monochrome gray to black details, like the belt, watch, ring, and pendant necklace.

The Mx.

Our Mx Flatlay, inspired by "fools spring" weather, plays with purples, metallic silver, and black details for a bold but fun mix of metals and patterns! Starting with a purple collared jumpsuit, we've layered a purple Arygle sweater over top and paired it with black and silver boots, and a black sequin scarf for some extra sparkle. A shiny purple raincoat paired with a black and gray printed umbrella and silver accents, such as midi finger rings, a silver watch, and even some silver cloud earrings, will have you prepared for stormy weather, or at least appreciating it with your outfit!

The Ms.

Our Ms Flatlay, inspired by "fools spring" weather. embraces blue skies, or at least a blue color palette! We're starting with a blue button-up worn beneath a blue and teal striped sundress, then adding a textured cobalt blue sweater over the top and brown tights for some additional layers on those colder days! For a cute but polished look from head to toe, we've paired this outfit with navy blue and cobalt blue ankle boots and a dress-style raincoat to keep you dry and stylish through rain or shine! Complete your outfit with some accessories such as a blue and silver watch, a silver pendant necklace, and silver teardrop earrings that will remind you of "silver linings" each time you look in the mirror!
