Hey, Style Slayers — Happy Moda Monday!
Welcome Inside the Closet! In this edition, we’re sharing 1 quest, 2 tips, and 3 looks to help you embrace your unique style superpowers — Let’s step in! 👇
1 Quest for you to try
This week, we are focusing on a fresh start for cold days, cozy layers, and creating outfits that actually get worn with a “winter wardrobe reboot” quest! Why are we doing a winter wardrobe reboot? Because winter has a way of making us reach for the same three outfits on repeat (well, at least for me it does!). When it’s cold, dark, and busy, getting dressed can feel like a chore instead of a creative moment (believe me, I’m not immune to this either). This week’s quest is about resetting your closet and your mindset—so your clothes work with you, not against you, through the rest of the season. Think: smarter layering, intentional pops of color, and simple closet tweaks that make getting dressed easier (and more fun).
How to participate
- Choose: Pick 3 winter pieces you want to wear more (for example, a sweater, jacket, or bold accessory). Make sure at least one includes texture or color!
- Create: Build a layered outfit using those pieces—aim for warmth, comfort, and at least one intentional “pop” (this could come from texture, color, or even a pop of structure!).
- Capture: Share your outfit with #VostraModaQuest, or reply to this email with your entry.
The most inspiring outfit will be featured next week! Please let me know if you would like to remain anonymous.
2 Tips to help you slay
For this week’s quest, I’ve chosen to share a technique I’m trying myself this winter to keep track of what I use regularly, and what I may need to let go of (or a reminder to find some creative opportunities to incorporate): facing my hangers backwards in my closet, then flipping them around when I wear an item.
— If you start this same technique in your own closet now, the visual example will speak for itself by the end of the season. If each time you wear something, you flip the hanger backward, by the end of winter, you’ll see:
1. What you actually reach for. 2. What’s just taking up space. 3. Which pieces deserve to be styled differently (or released). Trying this technique can be a way to reconsider your closet and help reboot your wardrobe this winter through information gathering.
Our style suggestions
- Brighten your outfit and your mood: If your closet goes grayscale in winter, try injecting color in low-pressure ways, such as; A jewel-tone scarf, beanie, or bag; Colored knits under neutral coats; even unexpected shoe colors or patterns (Red plaid boots? Yes, please!). Color doesn’t have to be loud to lift your mood—it just has to be intentional.
- Winter outfit formulas: Motivation can be lower during this season, so do yourself a favor and build “cold-day outfit kits” you can create during a burst of motivation, then grab and go the rest of the week. Once you find some general combos that work for you (for example, Button down + Sweater + Trouser + Boot = outfit, or Knit dress + fleece tights + chunky shoe + statement necklace = outfit), repeat them with different colors or textures (and don’t forget to flip those hangers when you wear them!). Make ease a style skill you develop this season!
