Hey, Style Slayers — Happy Moda Monday!
Welcome Inside the Closet! In this edition, we’re sharing 1 quest, 2 tips, and 3 looks to help you embrace your unique style superpowers — Let’s step in! 👇
1 Quest for you to try
This week, I challenge you to take a ren faire fit to day wear look by using your fantasy-themed fashion outside of your local Renaissance festival! This “Dungeons & Daywear” quest is a fun way to bring the elegance of elven queens or the prestige of paladins to your everyday look! Huzzah!
How to participate
- Choose: Select some favorite items that you’ve worn to the Renaissance Festival or items you would wear if you haven’t been lately (or ever!)
- Create: Combine your faire fashion with pieces from your day-to-day wardrobe for a date night, weekend hangout, or even work wear outfit!
- Capture: Share your outfit with #VostraModaQuest, or reply to this email with your entry.
The most inspiring outfit will be featured next week! Please let me know if you would like to remain anonymous.
2 Tips to help you slay
For this week’s quest, I’ve chosen a flowy peasant blouse to style as day wear. This particular piece is a go-to for the ren faire because its length makes it easy to layer with and the dramatic sleeves help it to stand out! Those same details make it a fun challenge to style for day wear. When creating a modern look, using certain items that I consistently wear helped to make this outfit feel like a perfect mix of dungeon delver but still casual enough for a day-to-day look, and comfortable because of my own wardrobe staples I paired it with!
— Your look could be as simple as introducing some fun accessories from your faire outfit into your look, like earrings or a cool pair of boots paired with jeans for a casual but comfortable combo. Or you could integrate more detailed pieces like a corset, pauldrons, or other typical ren faire layers mixed with modern items! Only your imagination can stop you (or rolling a natural 1)!
Our style suggestions
- Use items you know already fit you well and that you wear regularly so it feels less like a costume and more like a new addition to your wardrobe. For example, I paired a pleated skirt and heels that I already know I love for a date night look with my ren faire blouse so it felt more like trying a new top than trying a whole new outfit I’d never worn before!
- Try different styling techniques, like using the hair tie trick to make flowy sleeves more fitted and shorter if an item is a bit too dramatic for your day-to-day look!
