Shift from spring to summer with smart swaps

Hey, Style Slayers — Happy Moda Monday!

Welcome Inside the Closet! In this edition, we’re sharing 1 quest, 2 tips, and 3 looks to help you embrace your unique style superpowers — Let’s step in! 👇

1 Quest for you to try

This week, we’re leaning into the change of season! All of those April showers led the way to May flowers (and honestly, even more showers, in NH at least). Now that it’s June, we are finally ready for summer’s sunny season! The official kickoff is in a couple of weeks, so that means it’s time to start your wardrobe transition, just like the seasons do! This week’s Style Quest is all about the spring-to-summer transition—from dew-fresh mornings to salt-kissed evenings. Let’s talk light layers, dive into breezy fabrics, and reimagine your pieces to take you from cool mornings to toasty afternoons!

How to participate

  1. Choose: Pick one favorite spring piece that you don’t want to put away just yet—maybe it’s a floral shirt, pastel blazer, or flowy dress.
  2. Create: Restyle it for summer by: Swapping layers (blazer → sheer kimono or open button down), Lightening the accessories (boots → sandals), and playing with silhouettes (tying a dress hem or wearing a blouse off-shoulder)
  3. Capture: Share your outfit with #VostraModaQuest, or reply to this email with your entry.

2 Tips to help you slay

For this week’s quest, I’ve chosen to style my lightweight floral kimono in a summer-inspired way! Changing out the layers I would typically wear with it for colder weather, such as a long sleeve blouse under, a fitted vest over, and a pair of warm pants and boots, and opting for a cream camisole, teal skirt, and cute heels (the bonus harness in my image makes it feel just a bit more badass) gives it a summer-time ready vibe!

As you switch in your summer items, using a similar color palette can help you see more versatility and ways to combine your items! Try pairing a long-sleeved blouse from your spring wardrobe with some linen dress shorts and sandals for a casual but put-together look that uses spring prints with summer-ready materials for those warmer days!

Our style suggestions

  1. Trade your layers: Swap out heavy cardigans and denim jackets for linen dusters, cotton poplin shirts, or airy kimonos. These items still give you that “third piece” polish, but let your skin breathe when the sun hits.
  2. Repurpose with purpose: That pastel tunic can become a swimsuit cover-up. Your floral maxi skirt? Belt it and wear it like a strapless dress! Get creative and see how your spring pieces can go on “vacation mode” with you.
Bri shows off her spring to summer outfit shift using a floral kimono - for spring it's layered with a knit top under and a fitted vest over, as well as warm pants and boots. For spring, a cream camisole under, and tucking it into a teal skirt with a harness for flair and simple heels creates a lighter option for warmer weather without losing the boldness of the look!
