Hey, Style Slayers — Happy Moda Monday!
Welcome Inside the Closet! In this edition, we’re sharing 1 quest, 2 tips, and 3 looks to help you embrace your unique style superpowers — Let’s step in! 👇
1 Quest for you to try
As a stylist and collaborator with other creatives, it’s easy for me to see that not all jobs happen behind a desk (even though there are plenty that do!). Maybe you’re also part of an on-the-go career – on your feet all day, carrying gear, crafting with your hands, or making magic in a studio – if that sounds like your work day, then this week is for you, my friend!
We’re all about outfitting your real life and your work. Work Mode is where you get things done, move with ease, and still look pulled together even if your day includes climbing a ladder, manning a camera, or a last-minute coffee meet-up with a client. Let’s build looks that are built to last—and still look damn good, with this week’s challenge: to go from Work Mode to WERK MODA!
How to participate
- Choose: Identify a part of your week where you’re active, hands-on, or running errands—and where you usually default to “meh” clothes.
- Create: Curate an outfit that works with you, not against you. Prioritize comfort, movement, and functionality—but add at least one style-forward piece that you’d feel proud to meet that high-paying cilent while wearing.
- Capture: Share your outfit with #VostraModaQuest, or reply to this email with your entry.

2 Tips to help you slay
For this week’s quest, I’ve chosen to share an outfit that I wore while working backstage at NH Fashion Week in 2024. While I still want to look professional and feel stylish no matter who or how I’m working, when I’m on set for a production or photoshoot, I tend to be moving around – a LOT. Because I’m bopping around, getting my steps in, and sometimes dropping it like it’s hot (how else do you help cuff a client’s pant leg?), I need to be able to MOVE with ease.
— Your look could follow a similar template of focusing on being comfortable but chic. Pants with either stretch or flow are a must for movement, like my black dress pants with LOTS of stretch, paired with a well-fitting top (I prefer a high neckline for how often I’m leaning over) and some good shoes. Add your personality with accessories that make sense for your tasks (I opted for earrings and a simple black watch as my statement accessories, and for function!). Lots of rings and bracelets may not be best for those who literally need to get their hands dirty, but a unique hat, cool scarf, or even your glasses can be a great nod to your style!
Our style suggestions
- Layer with intention: Layering isn’t just about warmth (though it’s a perk in heavily air-conditioned spaces or cold environments)—it’s about versatility. Try a stylish utility vest, a shacket, or a performance jacket that looks cool but can handle the hustle while giving you more storage options on your person (yay pockets!).
- Keep it easy to clean: You’re working, probably in a fast-paced environment, and life can get messy. Stick to machine-washable, wrinkle-resistant staples when possible so your clothes don’t hold you back, and you don’t hold a grudge. Save the dry-clean-only items for special events where it’s less likely that you’ll be kneeling on a floor to adjust or fix something multiple times in one day.
