Style Mode Series: Practical Parent Power-Ups

Hey, Style Slayers — Happy Moda Monday!

Welcome Inside the Closet! In this edition, we’re sharing 1 quest, 2 tips, and 3 looks to help you embrace your unique style superpowers — Let’s step in! 👇

1 Quest for you to try

Parenting is a beautiful but chaotic experience. Whether you’re wrangling toddlers, coordinating school pickups with sports games, or simply dodging applesauce on your way out the door, your day demands flexibility—and so does your wardrobe.

Enter: Parent Mode! This week we’re talking all about practical style that can survive the spills, the tantrums, and those surprise park visits… while still making you look put-together and powerful (even if you’re about to hit your breaking point on the inside; it’s all right – you got this!).

Because yes—you can create the perfect smore with your kid, and still serve looks – just plan to be a little stickier after!

How to participate

  1. Choose: Pick one routine moment where you usually put style last—school drop-offs, grocery runs, or dance class waiting rooms.
  2. Create: Put together an outfit that’s both parent-friendly and makes you feel confident. Choose items that are comfy, easy to clean, but still let you express your personality (we know: you’re actually a cool mom/dad/parent!).
  3. Capture: Share your outfit with #VostraModaQuest, or reply to this email with your entry.

2 Tips to help you slay

For this week’s quest, I’ve chosen an outfit that allows me to feel put-together, but still gives me a full range of motion while limiting the concerns of getting muddy paw-prints while playing outside! Because yes, even pet parents, like myself, need a functional wardrobe for training time that they still feel good about wearing if they meet someone new!

Your power-up could be as simple as switching out that stained, oversized t-shirt and leggings for an updated version. Try a better-fitting (read not so big it could fit over you and your kid at the same time) t-shirt in a darker color option like navy blue, forest green, or eggplant purple (or black if you want to stick with a classic). Something with a print or pattern can help to hide any incoming stains without it feeling like just another boring t-shirt. And try swapping the leggings for tapered joggers to maintain that comfort and mobility, but with slightly more structure (and usually some decent pockets too)!

Our style suggestions

  1. Hands Free Fashion: Most parents feel like they need more than two hands at any given moment, so a life (and outfit) saving parental power-up should include plenty of pocket options on your person, and/or a crossbody bag, belt bag, or even a stylish backpack – function and fashion combined!
  2. One And Done: Creating some “one and done” outfit options, like a jumpsuit and jacket pairing or a matching shirt and short set in your favorite color combo, can help save you the brain space you need for other important things – like remembering they changed your kid’s practice time to an hour earlier this week…
Bri's "practical parent power-up" outfit is perfect for puppy play time! As a dog-mom, she knows she'll be outside often, so a cool pair of sunglasses, and color coordinated baseball cap that matches her shirt combined with a stylish jean jacket are some of her favorite pieces to create a practical but still put-together play-worthy outfit!

3 Looks for you to shop

Upgrade your wardrobe with just one click! Shop these fresh looks to trend the multiverse and never go out of style.

The Mr.

The Mr flatlay featuring our parent power-up trick: when you have kids, you can't go wrong with a dark color palette for those unexpected spills or questionable sticky hand prints! This monochrome palette features a mostly black option with variations that lend themselves toward gray by combining different textures, like in the jacket vs the slight sheen on the shoes. For maximum mobility, a tapered jogger and fitted t-shirt can be great base layers that function well for running in the backyard or running errands. Paired with leather sneakers, an all black watch, a textured black backpack, some classic black aviators, and a fun "dad" hat, at least your outfit can feel modern, even if your jokes are still groaners!

The Mx.

The Mx flatlay featuring our parent power-up trick: make getting ready as easy as PBJ with a matching set like this green striped shirt, green denim short, and matching denim jacket! Simplify your selection process by pairing it with brown accents including your shoes, belt, and watch. Even a messenger bag (which may or may not include snacks and games for the kids) can add to your outfit when paired with your green and brown color scheme! Don't forget some cool green shades and a green and brown foliage ring to show you've still got unique style!

The Ms.

The Ms flatlay featuring our parent power-up trick: look for "one and done" options like a jumpsuit, romper, or dress! Add a durable but cute outer layer option, like a utility jacket in a color that matches your comfy kicks, and you've created cohesion! And accessories like a floral necklace with each of your family member's birth months represented can be a thoughtful way to keep them close, no matter how old they are!
