Transform summer items for fall adventures

Hey, Style Slayers — Happy Moda Monday!

Welcome Inside the Closet! In this edition, we’re sharing 1 quest, 2 tips, and 3 looks to help you embrace your unique style superpowers — Let’s step in! 👇

1 Quest for you to try

This week, you are embracing a versatile wardrobe in any season by transforming a summer item into layerable fall fashion! It’s still technically that transitional season time of year with crisp mornings and warmer afternoons, so I challenge you to get the most out of your summer wardrobe before the first (or maybe second) frost hits!

How to participate

  1. Choose: Select a favorite summer item, such as a sundress, graphic tee, chambray top, or even a pair of shorts
  2. Create: Layer your summer item with some cozy fall fashion, like a chunky sweater, turtleneck, leggings, or flannel shirt, for an Autumn inspired look
  3. Capture: Share your outfit with #VostraModaQuest, or reply to this email with your entry.

2 Tips to help you slay

For this week’s quest, I’ve chosen a few favorite summer items to create cozy layered looks with! I started with a sundress, which I used as my base layer, then added a button-down top and warm sweater paired with some tall boots! Another option with this look is to add leggings under it all for especially cold days, or you can add a maxi skirt for even more layering! Leggings can also be worn beneath shorts for a unique take on your summer staple!

Your look could also include a combination of short-sleeved tops, like a graphic tee, paired with a flannel shirt for a truly New England inspired look! Make it casual with a pair of jeans and complimentary boot color, or add a bit more pizazz to your look by layering it under a satin vest and wearing dress shoes for a leveled-up look!

Our style suggestions

  1. Choose a summer item that can be used as a base layer then add your fall fashion, such as sweaters, long skirts, jackets, or boots over top of the item with ease – this works well for cold mornings and warm afternoons when you need to remove layers as you go too!
  2. Use different textures to create more interest in your outfit – even if you have the same color scheme for your layers, a jersey dress paired with a chambray top or a wool sweater will create a more dynamic look!
