Hey, Style Slayers — Happy Moda Monday!
Welcome Inside the Closet! In this edition, we’re sharing 1 quest, 2 tips, and 3 looks to help you embrace your unique style superpowers — Let’s step in! 👇
1 Quest for you to try
This past week, you may have started to feel a shift in the air – in New England, at least, our mornings are starting to feel crisp, while afternoons are still clinging to summer warmth. It’s officially September now, and time for a closet shift to transform from summer style to fall fashion!
Because this is one of those big transition seasons, I find it to be a magical moment when your wardrobe benefits from living in two worlds at once—half sunshine, half sweater weather, and all the layers! Join us as we find the happy medium of layering techniques to keep you comfortable all day, regardless of the weather!
How to participate
- Choose: Select one summer item from your wardrobe that you’ll add layers to for an autumnal-inspired look
- Create: Combine with different layering options to create 3 different outfit options from that one item – for example, a way to wear it for a chilly morning, a way to wear it for a warm afternoon, and a way to wear it for a crisp evening.
- Capture: Share your outfit with #VostraModaQuest, or reply to this email with your entry.
The most inspiring outfit will be featured next week! Please let me know if you would like to remain anonymous.
2 Tips to help you slay
For this week’s quest, I’ve chosen to add some Autumnal accessories and color palettes to a summer-inspired outfit. I went with a brown sleeveless top, but because it’s a knit top, it’s perfect for cooler weather when layering a jacket or sweater over it, and looks lovely paired with high-waisted olive green linen pants. I also added a brown wool hat for additional warmth in both color and temperature that can easily be removed if I get too toasty in the afternoon! Gold accessories also help warm up the color palette and add some depth to the outfit with their metallic sheen.
— Your look could be as simple as layering fall foliage colored outerwear over a favorite summer basic, like a burgundy sweater over a chambray dress, or pairing an olive green utility jacket with your go-to summer chinos. Don’t forget accessories like scarves or hats can help add a little something extra, too, without a lot of weight or additional outfit planning!
Our style suggestions
- Slip off the sandals… and slip into some ankle boots or leather sneakers, or loafers! Shoes are a simple swap if you don’t feel ready to change up your entire wardrobe yet!
- Stay cool… by holding onto some of summer basics as we start the fall season. Before you move everything summer-related out of your closet, remember there will still be some hot days, or at least some warm afternoons. Keep a few base layer items from your summer wardrobe, like tank tops, shorts, short-sleeve shirts, or sleeveless dresses, and layer them with fall outerwear until the cool temps become more consistent.
