Q: What is your favorite part about working with/supporting your specific clients?

A: As someone who has always personally struggled with body image, I love showing women that working out does not have to be a punishment for how their bodies look or what they eat.

A: You’ll never make absolutely everyone happy, so keep your eye on the long-term goal and just keep taking the next right step to get there.

Q: When did you create your business, and what inspired you to start this specific business venture?

A: I’ve always had a passion for fitness. It only took me a month of teaching to know that I wanted my own studio, and just over a year later in 2017, I purchased barre3 Powell.

Q: What does confidence mean to you?

A: I think sometimes, women feel like they don’t want to come off as “Bossy” but since owning my own business, I’ve realized that I am a boss! Now I just think of it as being “Confident” and it’s made a HUGE difference in how I see myself!

Q: Why was it important for you to create your business?

A: I think the freedom that it affords me in my everyday life is key for me. I can pick my own schedule and the projects that inspire me, I feel like I’m not missing any time with my family and friends due to work anymore.

Q: If you could go back in time and give yourself any advice during the first year of your business, what would it be?

A: Don’t stress out so much about taxes! Just hire the accountant to begin with, it’s really not as hard as you think it’s going to be!

A: I love taking someone’s vision and making it a reality for them. I love supporting my local community of small business owners and entrepreneurs in that way!

Q: When did you create your business, and what inspired you to start this specific business venture?

A: I always had a side hustle as a freelance graphic designer while I was working as a full time designer, but in mid 2019 I decided to take the leap into working for myself.

A: I love reading! I read almost anything I can get my hands on, when I’m not doing that, I love going thrift shopping (Mostly for old records) and hanging out with my two cats and two dogs… And my husband of course!

A: Acknowledging my strengths, while also recognizing when I need to ask for help. I used to think confidence meant pretending that I knew how to do something when I didn’t. Now I recognize that asking for help increases self-confidence.

A: I specialize in teaching cello to adult musicians. I feel that it is a privilege to be trusted with their musical growth and I am always blown away by their commitment to the instrument.

Q: When did you create your business, and what inspired you to start this specific business venture?

A: Technically I began my music business in the early 2000s. I taught private lessons to cellists in elementary orchestras and had a quartet that would play weddings and events.

Q: What is your favorite activity when you aren’t working?

A: I love playing the mandolin, violin, piano, and ukulele (we also have a guitar and banjo, but I leave those to my husband). I also have spent an inordinate amount of time during the pandemic perfecting Overcooked 2.

Q: What is a personal favorite quote?

A: The lyrics from New Grass Revival’s Song “Do What You Gotta Do” I blast this when I have to do something that feels really scary and it ALWAYS helps get me through. I highly recommend people give it a listen!

A: I saw a quote once that said something like, “Confidence isn’t telling yourself everyone will like you. Confidence is knowing some people won’t and being okay with that.” That’s such an important distinction.

Stephanie is a Boundaries Coach for a group called No Boundaries in which she shares ways to build courage, reduce people pleasing behaviors, set better boundaries for yourself, and thrive emotionally.

She’s also a former boxer who self healed from over 20 years of chronic back pain and debilitating PTSD symptoms. It was the alchemy of pain science, behavior science and competitive boxing that allowed her to explore how pain and fear could transmute into power.
